The best book for learning calculus. I have tried several others and none compare to this one. They are just as accurate and informative however Tan's breakdown of the problems are unique. Calculus is difficult and there is not much you can do to get around that however you WILL learn calculus with this book if you give it enough time and effort and have a good trigonometric/algebraic base.Also, the layout is nice and he uses reoccurring themes(the first maglev example) to help present new material.

I'm happy to have the book so cheap but I wanted to document the condition it arrived in today. I'll be able to use it but it's not good condition.
I didn't know calculus before this book. Now I'm not only adding and subtracting but I can read at a 4th grade level.
Way too hard of a course. Don't take unless you're really smart
Bought this text for use in a class; I concur with the review of 'the most critical reviewer'. In addition to all those flaws, I just want to underline that for me, it simply wasn't user-friendly at all. I tried to learn straight from the book; it's a real struggle.
For the price, $25, I am pleased with the quality of the textbook. Very minimal writing in the book and most pages are still crisp. Both covers are intact and show small signs of wear and tear. Overall, I would highly recommend renting this book as it is hard to beat this price point.
